Operational Permits - Special Operations & Occupancies

Overview 

Following the adopted Fire and Wildland-Urban Interface Code, the Fire District requires operational permits for certain operations, events, and activities in Incline Village and Crystal Bay. Operational permits requires an application to the Fire District for permit, along with a fire inspection prior to the event or activity. 

Special Events, Operations, and Occupancies

Special events or operations such as  fairs,  carnivals,  exhibits,  tradeshows, or outdoor assembly events will typically require a fire review and fire inspection from the Fire District. 

Special operations may include dipping, spraying, outdoor burning, floor finishing, open flames and candles inside assembly areas or hot work, such as torching, cutting, welding, or grinding. 

Special occupanices may include places of assembly,  high-piled storages,  repair garages, and/or motor fuel-dispensing facilitie, storage of hazdarous materials or flammble/combustible liquids. 

All operations and special events required to be permitted by the Fire District can be found in the adopted Fire Code and adopted Wildland Urban Interface Code

Specific Events, Operations and/or Occupancies

Below is a short list of operations and/or events that require a permit: 

  • Assembly occupancies 
  • Candles and open flames in assembly areas
  • Carnivals or fairs 
  • Combustible storage of greater than 2500 cubic ft
  • Compressed gasses, at certain amounts
  • Exhibits or trade shows
  • Explosives
  • Fireworks
  • Flammable or combustible liquids, at certain amounts 
  • High piled storage at more than 500 sq ft 
  • Hot work, such as cutting, torching, or welding 
  • LP Gas, at certain amount
  • Mobile food trucks
  • Open burning, flames, or torches 
  • Outdoor assembly events 
  • Pyrotecinical special effects 
  • Repair garages and motor fueling stations 
  • Spraying or dipping 
  • Tents, canopies and temporary membrane structures
  • Tire storage
  • Waste handling facilities

Submitting Applications

Per the adopted Fire Code, an operational permit must be issued prior to the event or operation. To obtain a permit, please reivew the applications below. Applications will provide some guidance on what to include with the application.
